My name is Alana and I am an Indigenous Canadian Certified Counsellor. My passion is working with Indigenous and other BIPOC communities, along with children and youth. My goal is to provide Indigenous populations with psychological healing that is based in Indigenous knowledge and aims to target colonial trauma. My methods are holistic and have foundations in the Medicine Wheel and Two-Eyed Seeing where I bring a mix of Western evidence-based practices combined with traditional Indigenous teachings and cultural practices. Marcus has completed his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. He also completed his internship with Indigenous Psychological Services. Marcus uses a holistic/somatic approach with his clients. His studies have allowed him exposure to an array of intervention skills and techniques, focusing on somatic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and cultural diversity. Over the last five years, Marcus has spent time volunteering, participating, and facilitating transformational healing work. This work focuses on overcoming life challenges, trauma, and healing in a group or individual setting. During his internship, Marcus time focusing on research and best practices for Indigenous counselling. Marcus also focused on embodying the teachings of the Medicine Wheel and practicing traditional holistic practices.
